Dealers API
Getting Started
The Dealers API provides you with the latest information on BRP a dealer. You use this dealer information for several functions, such as setups and parts ordering. The API covers regional particularities influencing dealer parameters, like language and availability of shipping methods.
If the dealer is active, all their information is available. You will receive an error message if the dealer is inactive or a wrong dealer number is used to call the API.
The following information is returned by the API:
- Dealer information
- Partner information
- Shipping method information
- Product lines
- Last update date
The API does NOT return the following information:
- Website
- Phone number
- Sales attributes

--header 'Authorization: Bearer YOUR_ACCESS_TOKEN' \Error Handling
This section presents various scenarios of improper or wrong calls, which result in error messages and improper results.
400 Bad Request
The 400 status code is generally seen during development and integration and should not be received during normal operations. The returned response contains the information needed to correct the problem.
Many problems can cause a 400 status code, and the most common ones are listed in the table below.
Response | Resolution |
|---|---|
Returned if the dealer number field is blank. {
"status": "400",
"id": "rrt-074faba1d0796ac77-c-ea-24396-1520447-1",
"title": "bad_request",
"meta": {
"service": "00",
"detail": "Path not found."
}
} | The problem is that the query path does not provide a dealer number. You have to provide a dealer number. |
Returned if the language format is not valid. {
"status": "400",
"id": "rrt-06c1b7ac7365beb8f-d-ea-22696-1239306-1",
"title": "bad_request",
"meta": {
"service": "01",
"detail": "request validation failed",
"payload": {
"details": [
{
"message": "ECMA 262 regex \"^[a-z]{2}-[A-Z]{2}$\" does not match input string \"ab-ABC\": []"
}
]
}
}
} | The valid language format is as follows Format: xx-XX xx: language code in lowercase XX: country code in uppercase A valid language format must be entered in order to produce a proper response. |
Returned if the parameter is invalid {
"status": "400",
"id": "rrt-00a574511a562afb5-b-ea-22208-2505617-1",
"title": "bad_request",

"service": "01",
"detail": "request validation failed",
"payload": {
"details": [
{
"message": "query parameter is unexpected : lang: []"
}
]
}
}
} | Lang is an invalid parameter. The parameter language must be used in order to have a valid response. |
401 Unauthorized
The 401 Unauthorized error status code is returned when you try to call the API with an expired access_token.
You have to get a new access_token with a call to the Application Authentication API.
The 401 Unauthorized error status code is also returned if you didn't request access to the API by creating a ticket in the DCP Jira.
When you are ready to start working on an API, you must create a certification ticket in Jira, as described in the section Certification Activities with Jira.
If you already started work on an API and lost access, create a support ticket as described in the section Open a Support Ticket.
404 Not Found
The 404 Not Found status code is returned when the dealer number is not found.
{
"status": "404",
"id": "rrt-074faba1d0796ac77-c-ea-24397-1607550-1.1",
"title": "not_found",
"meta": {
"service": "06",
"detail": "Dealer 1234567890 not found."
}
}A correct dealer number must be entered for the API to return a proper response. For a dealer number to be correct, it must be found in the dealer list.
A dealer number must have 10 characters and does not contain any letters.
If the dealer number has less than 10 characters, prefix it with '0'.
DSP Requirements
Functional Requirements
ID | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
1 | Mandatory | The dealer information must be updated daily and must be used for other DCP API calls and functions. 👉 See Functional Requirement ID 4 below. For example, the dealer's allowed shipping methods and the allowed product lines must be retrieved from the dealer's information. |
2 | Mandatory | The dealer information update must be automatic, with no manual action by the dealer. |
3 | Mandatory | If you request a dealer's information and get the 403 Not Found status code, contact the DCP team at [email protected]. The dealer may not be a BRP dealer anymore and may become inactive. |
4 | Optional | If it's not practical to call the Dealers API daily and save the dealers' information, your DMS can call the Dealers API to retrieve the dealers' information when needed. For example, the Dealers API can be called when the dealer enters the Parts Order screen to update the dealer's allowed shipping methods and the allowed product lines. |
Certification Activities
The tests listed in the table below must be successfully done in the test environment before you can start the dealer pilot phase.
These tests are done using your and the DCP API test environments (QA).
The tests are slightly different between the V3 and V4 DCP versions. For V3, international dealers are used.
For V4, North American dealers are used.
